The Free State of Bavaria promotes technology-oriented start-ups in the field of digitalization.
Purpose and object
Start?Zuschuss! aims to provide founders with uncomplicated support in the initial phase and is intended to contribute to the establishment of young, innovative start-ups on the market. The programme supports technology-oriented start-ups in the field of digitalization.
Recipients of funding
Technology-oriented start-ups with a particularly sustainable, innovative business model in the field of digitalization that were founded no more than two years ago (the relevant deadline is the application deadline) and have successfully participated in the competition (see "Requirements" and "Procedure").
Eligible expenditure
Funding is provided for the start-up costs of the start-up, in particular the expenses for personnel, rent, market launch of the product and research & development.
Type and amount
Funding is provided as partial funding in the form of grants as part of project funding. The grant amounts to 50% of the eligible expenditure, up to a maximum of EUR 36,000 over a funding period of twelve months.
Funding is provided in accordance with the de minimis regulation.
The opportunity to apply for funding requires successful participation in the previous competition, i.e. if the application was selected for funding by an external jury.

The calls for funding for the competition are generally issued twice a year and are published on the "Gründerland Bayern" website (see "Further links").
The deadlines for the funding application procedure with the governments are communicated to the selected start-ups in the notification from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.
In the Free State of Bavaria, the prospects of being successfully self-employed are particularly favorable. In order to make Bavaria the leader in business start-ups, the Bavarian state government has launched the initiative Gründerland Bayern.
