The Federal Species Protection Ordinance stipulates that vertebrates that fall under specially protected species must be registered immediately. Immediately means that the notification must be made on the day after acquisition or after birth (or as soon as the viability of the animal is established). In addition to the start of animal husbandry, the competent authority must be notified of every additional animal that is added later. Animals that are passed on, get lost or die must also be notified.
