Membership of the Versorgungsanstalt der deutschen Kulturorchester; transmission of information

The Versorgungsanstalt der deutschen Kulturorchester grants pension benefits in old age, in the event of occupational disability and to surviving dependants. To do so, it requires certain information from the new member.

The Versorgungsanstalt der deutschen Kulturorchester (VddKO) is responsible for German cultural orchestras. The VddKO offers the musicians of German cultural orchestras additional insurance cover in addition to the statutory pension insurance in the event of old age, occupational disability and death.

Every musician who is employed by a cultural orchestra is compulsorily insured with the VddKO. Compulsory insurance begins at the same time as the employment relationship and ends when the musician leaves the employment relationship or no longer receives remuneration despite the continuation of the same.

Data must be transmitted to the VddKO to verify compulsory membership.

During periods in which musicians are not employed, they can continue to be insured voluntarily after previous compulsory insurance.

Certain freelance musicians have the option of voluntary insurance.

There is a dependent employment relationship with a cultural orchestra.

Compulsory insured persons are registered with the VddKO via a membership portal by their employers, who are members of the VddKO as cultural orchestras.

At the start of membership of the VddKO, the new member must complete the notification of change to compulsory membership and send it to the VddKO. The completed form (see under "Forms") can be sent by post or electronically (see under "Online procedure").

The member will then receive a membership notification from the VddKO by post.
