Procedure details

Purpose

The state building cost subsidies are intended to support private sponsors.

Object

Private primary and secondary schools that are operated by a legal entity under public or private law and operate on a non-profit basis are granted subsidies for necessary construction measures that have been approved by the school authorities.

A two-year waiting period applies (exception: religious denomination schools).

Recipients of funding

School authorities of private alternative schools are eligible to apply.

Type and amount

School authorities receive a grant of 60% (70% for state-recognized primary and secondary schools and 100% for religious denominational schools) of the eligible costs for necessary construction measures that have been approved by the school authorities, provided that these costs exceed EUR 25,000. In this context, the costs can be recognized as eligible costs for municipal school construction measures in municipal financial equalization. The timing of compensation payments for construction costs depends on the funds allocated in the state budget. For private elementary school and secondary/middle schools that were established or recognized as state substitute schools on 7 October 2014, grant rates of 70% and 80% respectively are paid.
