Procedure details

The subsidy is partially flat-rate. It is calculated on the basis of eligible teaching hours per week and additional hours per week (credit and reduction hours), which depend on the type and size of the school in question. The funding rates for private, state-approved vocational schools range from 79% to 100%, depending on the type of school. State-approved private vocational schools that meet certain requirements and appear to be equivalent to comparable public schools receive the same funding rates as state-approved private vocational schools. On the other hand, state-approved private vocational schools that do not meet these requirements receive a funding rate of 65% of the funding rate for state-approved private schools (further requirements must then be met).

Private vocational schools that are operated by a legal entity under public or private law and operate on a non-profit basis receive an operating grant. The non-profit status must be certified by the responsible tax office.
