Procedure details

In accordance with § 22 of the Licensing Regulations for Pharmacists (AAppO), the State Examination Office will, upon application, take into account

  • periods of study and academic achievements from a related course of study pursued in Germany and
  • periods of study and academic achievements from a pharmacy degree program or related degree program pursued abroad

if equivalence is given.

  • Certificate of enrolment or certificate of study progress
  • University entrance qualification or notification of recognition of a secondary school leaving examination passed abroad by the certificate recognition office
  • Documents used to establish equivalence:
    • Internship certificates/proofs of achievement/certificates of examinations passed and/or.
    • Certificates of equivalence for courses in related courses of study and/or
    • Documents concerning studies abroad (e.g. Austria)
      If you have completed your diploma studies in pharmacy in Austria, the following documents are required for processing:
      • Birth certificate
      • Abitur certificate
      • Study sheet/confirmation of study time
      • Certificate of the third diploma examination
      • Notification of the award of the academic degree "Magistra/Magister" in Pharmacy
  • if applicable, crediting notice from another state examination office

  • Recognition of academic achievements towards a degree in pharmacy that do not justify credit for study time (external or abroad): EUR 15.00
  • Recognition of certificates for a degree course in pharmacy with credit for
    • one semester (external): EUR 25.00
    • two semesters (external): 40,00 EUR
    • three semesters (external): 50,00 EUR
    • four semesters (external): 60,00 EUR
    • one semester (abroad): EUR 25.00
    • two semesters (abroad): EUR 40.00
    • three semesters (abroad): EUR 50.00
    • four semesters (abroad): EUR 60.00
  • Recognition of examinations (fee is charged in addition to the above-mentioned fee for the recognition of examinations in one or more subjects):
    • one examination: EUR 20.00
    • two examinations: EUR 30.00

2-4 weeks

If the applicant has not yet been enrolled or admitted to study pharmacy, the state examination office of the federal state in which the applicant was born is responsible.

If neither an enrolment/admission nor the place of birth in Germany is responsible, the Hessian State Examination Office is responsible.
