Schools, kindergartens, clubs, associations and similar institutions located in the district can borrow media from the media center or the district picture center that are in compliance with licensing laws. The streaming of online media is becoming increasingly important.
The media centers have didactically prepared media that are thematically related to the curricula of the school types available in the district or deal with topics that may arise from the mandate of kindergartens, clubs, associations and other authorized institutions. As digitalization progresses, the media centers can provide targeted regional support, for example by making digital content available, advising teachers and responding to their media needs.

Media centers (formerly district picture centers) are facilities of the district and the independent cities. Among other things, they produce images, videos, DVDs and online media relating to the district and work together with museums and local history societies.
In addition to the available educational media, schools and other institutions located in the district can generally also borrow demonstration devices and other hardware from the media center or the district image center.
