With the Bavarian Dementia Fund, the Free State of Bavaria supports services for the participation of people with dementia and their relatives as well as programs to strengthen dementia-sensitive communities.

The aim of the Bavarian Dementia Fund is to support people with dementia living at home and their relatives in particular, to enable them to participate in the various stages of dementia and to establish and expand dementia-sensitive communities.
Funding is provided for services for the social participation of people with dementia and their relatives (1st funding pillar) or programs of municipalities to support the establishment and expansion of dementia-sensitive structures (2nd funding pillar).
All expenses that are causally related to the measure and are necessary for the implementation of the measure, comply with the principles of economic efficiency and economy and are to be borne by the project sponsor (measure-related personnel and material expenses) are eligible for funding. Personnel expenses can be taken into account up to a maximum of the respective maximum personnel expense rates announced by the State Ministry of Finance and Home Affairs for grants from the Free State of Bavaria. Expenditure on construction measures and maintenance is not eligible for funding.
The funding amounts to up to 90 percent of the eligible expenditure, however
As a rule, the total eligible expenditure of the measure should not fall below a de minimis limit of EUR 2,000.
The grant is awarded as partial funding as part of the funding of the measure.
The offers and programs must meet the respective funding criteria according to the Dementia and Participation Funding Guideline (DEM Part). The key requirements are outlined under "Description".
Funding for the services and programs (measures) requires that they
a) relate to people with dementia and their relatives in the Free State of Bavaria and
b) have not yet been started.
The application for funding must be submitted in writing or electronically to the Bavarian State Office for Nursing before the start of the project. The forms provided must be used. Applications for funding are submitted in a two-stage procedure. Initially, only the documents from application phase I are to be used for the application. In the event of a positive vote by the panel of experts, further documents will be requested for application phase II. The Bavarian State Office for Nursing is happy to provide advice.

The deadlines for submitting applications are June 30 and December 31.
Funding is provided without legal entitlement within the scope of available budget funds.

Every year, the Bavarian Dementia Fund awards prizes for scientific work that deals with practical issues to improve the lives of people with dementia and their relatives.
