The Cross may not be awarded as long as the person has an unrestricted entry in the Federal Central Criminal Register due to a legally binding conviction. The person to be honored must also be worthy of an award based on their other conduct.
Proposals for the award of the Pin Cross can only be submitted to the State Ministry of the Interior, Sport and Integration by the President of the Bavarian Red Cross or by the regional chairpersons or regional representatives.
In addition to personal details (first name and surname, profession, date and place of birth, main residence), each award proposal must contain a detailed description of the special services rendered to the organization. The current number of active service members of the respective organization must be communicated with each award proposal; No. 2.2.1 of the implementation notice of the Fire Service and Relief Organizations Decoration of Honour Act specifies a maximum annual number of proposals per organization.
Proposals for the award of the Pin Cross can be submitted twice a year, on April 1 and October 1.
