In order to further relieve schools in the Free State of Bavaria of pedagogical tasks that have to be regularly implemented on site in addition to teaching, pedagogical support staff will be deployed at Bavarian primary, secondary and special schools from the 2024/25 school year.

Educational support staff support teachers, guidance teachers, school psychologists and other educational staff at schools in their respective tasks. They also design supplementary educational programs under the guidance and participation of teachers.

Educational support staff are part of other school personnel in accordance with Art. 60a of the Bavarian Education and Teaching Act (BayEUG). They do not teach lessons themselves. Rather, they support teachers, guidance teachers and school psychologists, but also school social pedagogues and, if necessary, other educational staff at the school in their respective educational tasks and are instructed by them in their work.

Educational support staff can be employed within the framework of the budget positions made available.

Applicants who would like to work as educational support staff at a state primary or secondary school can enquire at the respective state education authority as to which schools there are opportunities to work at.

If you are interested in working at a special school, you can contact the state or private special school at which you would like to work directly.

The school authority or special schools will submit the recruitment documents to the government for the allocated positions.

The government draws up the employment contract and arranges payment of the salary.

The recruitment documents should be submitted to the government well in advance of the intended start of employment so that the contract can be drawn up and remuneration paid in good time.

Upon submission of complete recruitment documents, contracts will be drawn up as quickly as possible.

The pedagogical support worker can only start work after approval by the government, after submission of an extended certificate of good conduct and proof of sufficient measles vaccination (for those born after 1970) and, if applicable, after signing a legally valid fixed-term agreement.
