Introductory training (EQ) is an internship in a company that is subject to social insurance contributions. It is intended to prepare young people and young adults who have already decided on a specific occupation for an apprenticeship. They are introduced to the relevant training content in the company and can put their skills to the test. Such an internship lasts between four and twelve months. The participant receives remuneration from the company.
The conclusion of the contract must be notified to the competent authority in accordance with the Vocational Training Act or, in the case of preparation for a training occupation recognized under the Nursing Professions Act, to the competent authority under state law. In Bavaria, this is the government of Middle Franconia ("Social Affairs and Youth" department).
The conclusion of an entry-level training contract must be notified in writing by the employer to the competent authority (in Bavaria: the government of Middle Franconia) responsible for the place of residence of the participant in the entry-level training.
The skills, knowledge and abilities acquired must be certified by the company. The company certificate must be submitted by the employer.
The competent authority (in Bavaria: the government of Middle Franconia) issues a certificate of successful completion of the company-based introductory qualification upon application by the employer or the participant in the introductory qualification.
If you would like to introduce young people to vocational training in your company via a paid internship, you can apply for a subsidy for internship remuneration.
