The government is responsible for pay-scale staff (e.g. administrative staff, all-day support staff, third-party staff) employed at elementary school, secondary schools, special schools, vocational schools (excluding technical secondary schools / vocational secondary schools) and at the state institutes for the training of specialist teachers and support teachers.
The State Office for Schools is responsible for pay-scale staff at state grammar schools (including home schools, preparatory colleges and colleges), secondary modern schools and vocational secondary schools.
Employees covered by collective agreements are entitled to a reduction in their working hours in accordance with collective agreement and statutory provisions. Such part-time employment or special leave must be applied for with the responsible government.
The employee submits the application to the government via the school management and the state education authority (in the case of employment at primary and secondary schools).
The government decides on the application and, if necessary, amends the employment contract or grants the special leave.
Employees of the Free State of Bavaria can apply for a leave of absence.
Teachers and other school staff at primary and secondary schools, special schools and vocational schools (excluding vocational secondary schools) can apply for part-time employment and a sabbatical model, and teachers with civil servant status can apply for partial retirement.
Employees of the Free State of Bavaria can apply for a reduction in working hours.
