The purpose of the funding is to support those affected in self-help measures (exchange, information, participation in community life).
Eligible self-help groups are associations of physically or mentally disabled or chronically ill people and/or their family members at local level. A regular personal exchange must take place (regular meetings). No staff may be employed in return for payment and the groups may not be purely virtual (e.g. Internet). Groups that meet exclusively for hobbies or sports do not perform self-help work within the meaning of the guidelines.
Applications from self-help groups must be submitted in writing using the forms available from the Zentrum Bayern Familie und Soziales (ZBFS). Two authorized group members must sign the application and bank details are required.
The self-help groups submit the application for a grant to an umbrella organization of independent welfare services, to a state association for the disabled of which they are a member, or to the state working group SELBSTHILFE von Menschen mit Behinderung und chronischer Erkrankung und ihrer Angehörigen in Bayern e. V. (SELF-HELP for people with disabilities and chronic illnesses and their relatives in Bavaria). Self-help groups that are members of several state associations for the disabled submit the application to the state association of their choice. Self-help groups that are not affiliated with a state association submit the application to the LAG Selbsthilfe. After reviewing the application, they will forward it to the Zentrum Bayern Familie und Soziales (ZBFS), which will decide on the application.
