Procedure details

As a widow or widower and registered partner, you will receive a survivor's pension from the statutory accident insurance in the event of death as a result of an insured event.

If you remarry as a surviving dependant or enter into a new registered civil partnership, the surviving dependant's pension granted will be settled.

You will receive 24 times your monthly pension as a settlement.

The calendar months worked as part of a survivor's pension with a fixed term in advance will be offset against the settlement amount.

If you have already received a pension settlement on remarriage or a new registered civil partnership and your marital status has changed again, please contact your employer's liability insurance association or accident insurance fund. They will advise you on possible benefit entitlements.

  • You must be entitled to survivors' benefits from the statutory accident insurance.
  • You have remarried or formed a new civil partnership in accordance with the Civil Partnership Act.
