The paid or commercial transportation of passengers on scheduled services is subject to the provisions of the Passenger Transportation Act (PBefG) and is therefore generally subject to approval.
Scheduled services are a form of regular service and are part of local public transport. In the case of scheduled services, passengers are transported between specific boarding and alighting points by prior order without a fixed route. Transportation takes place within a defined area and fixed service times. Transport orders from different passengers are bundled together. Well-known forms of scheduled services are some forms of on-demand bus services or shared taxi services.
The company must apply the transport charges and conditions set by the responsible local authority as part of a local transport plan, a public service contract or an advance notice.
Scheduled services are subject to transportation, operating and tariff obligations.
