Procedure details

The approximately 7000 hunting cooperatives in Bavaria are required to keep an up-to-date hunting register. The hunting cadastre can be derived from the real estate cadastre and is created by the responsible Office for Digitization, Broadband and Surveying at the request of the hunting cooperative.

In Bavaria, the right to hunt is inseparably linked to the ownership of land. The landowner exercises the right to hunt as a member of a hunting cooperative. Resolutions of hunting cooperatives require both a majority of the hunting members present and represented and a majority of the land area represented. The hunting register serves as the basis for this. From the hunting register, they can also draw conclusions about the total area that can be hunted and draw conclusions such as

  • the permissibility of dividing a communal hunting ground into several independent hunting grounds
  • the admissibility of a plurality of hunting tenants and the number of possible hunting permits and
  • the existence of the minimum size for a communal hunting ground.

In addition, the size of the huntable area determines the hunting lease or the shooting plan.

The hunting cooperatives (represented by the hunting board) and the owners of private hunting grounds are entitled to obtain a hunting register.

The hunting board is responsible for maintaining the hunting register properly and keeping it up to date. An annual update can be agreed with the responsible Office for Digitization, Broadband and Surveying.

The hunting register product is only created on request and is supplied to hunting cooperatives at a flat rate:

  • 180 € for the first-time data purchase
  • 50 € for updating

  • Hunting lease; advertisement

The hunting lease is a lease agreement in the form of a legal lease by which the right to hunt in a specific hunting district is granted to another party (hunting leaseholder). It must be notified to the competent authority.

  • Hunting law; prosecution of administrative offenses
Hunters must comply with a large number of legal regulations. Hunting law contains both criminal offenses and numerous administrative offenses.
