Description
The over 200,000 km long leisure trail network includes all locally signposted hiking and cycling trails in Bavaria. The network is divided into the following categories:
- Long-distance hiking trails, hiking trails, local hiking trails
- long-distance cycle paths, cycle paths, mountain bike trails and the Bavarian network for cyclists
The leisure trails of the Bavarian Surveying Administration are part of the Bavarian State Government's OpenData initiative and can be downloaded and used free of charge under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 Germany license. The leisure trails are available as follows:
- for selected long-distance hiking and cycling routes as well as for the 120 cycling routes of the Bavarian network for cyclists as GPX tracks for direct use in GPS receivers
- for specialist users as Esri Shape Format (SHP) for integration into a geographic information system (GIS)
