Visually impaired persons can apply for a transparent sticker with Braille for the back of their ID card, eID card or electronic residence permit from their local authority or immigration office.
Since 01.09.2021, a transparent Braille sticker with the word "ad" (identity document) can be affixed to the ID card, the eID card or the electronic residence permit on the back of the ID card at the request of the document holder.
The Braille sticker is intended to make it easier to distinguish the ID card, eID card or electronic residence permit from other cards in cheque card format, for example in a wallet.
The sticker is only affixed to the back of the ID document at the request of the cardholder.
The Braille sticker can be affixed immediately when the ID document is issued or at a later date.
Upon application, the residence permit issued in the form of a sticker in the passport can be replaced by an electronic residence permit.
