Procedure details

Consumer education in schools

Working together with children and young people to develop consumer skills in the sense of sustainable consumption decisions is the aim of the Bavarian Ministry of Consumer Protection. Initiatives by the Ministry of Consumer Protection, such as the Bavarian Consumer Education Partner School program, are examples of the wide range of support services available.

The basis for the work in schools are the resolutions of the Bavarian State Parliament "School for life" and "Everyday life skills and life economics as a compulsory subject", the Bavarian guidelines on economic consumer education as well as the resolution of the Conference of Education Ministers on consumer education in schools.

Consumer education for adults

In order to create more up-to-date educational opportunities for adults on financial, internet and data protection topics as well as in the area of sustainable consumption, adult education institutions throughout Bavaria are being recognized as consumer education bases. The institutions offer more courses and lectures on current financial and internet topics and sustainable consumption. What is important here is that the courses are independent of products and providers. This is what the "Consumer Education Bavaria" seal stands for. Partners in the project are the state-recognized adult education providers as well as the Bavarian Consumer Advice Centre and VerbraucherService Bayern.

The Bavarian Ministry of Consumer Protection launched the initiative in 2011 with the further training of course instructors. With the appropriate qualification, recognition as a consumer education trainer and thus inclusion in the network is still possible.
