Students and technical students who are enrolled abroad can work a vacation job in Germany during the semester break.

As an employer, you can use them wherever you need them, for example

in the kitchen
in service,
in agriculture,
on the assembly line or
in the cleaning of buildings.

The Federal Employment Agency can help you fill vacancies for vacation jobbers by placing vacation jobs with foreign students. Your point of contact for all matters relating to the employment of foreign students and technical students is the Central Foreign and Technical Placement Office of the Federal Employment Agency.

If all requirements are met, the Federal Employment Agency will issue a placement confirmation for the vacation job.

In order for students from abroad to be allowed to work in your company, they must be

be enrolled at a university or technical college abroad,
complete the vacation job when the location of their foreign university or college is officially on vacation, and
comply with the possible employment period of a maximum of 90 days within a 12-month period.

Required Documents
In the case of establishing contact between you and the student or student specialist without the involvement of the Federal Employment Agency (for example, through a private placement agency):
- Form "Declaration on Enrolment Certificate".
- Declaration of employment relationship (EzB)
- Original of the certificate of enrolment of the foreign university or college in German or English, in case of other languages additionally with translation into German or English
- Copy of the applicant's passport
If the Federal Employment Agency has established contact between you and the student or vocational school applicant
- Declaration of employment relationship (EzB)

If you wish to be placed by the Federal Employment Agency, proceed as follows:

Go to the website of the Federal Employment Agency, download the form "Job offer for a vacation job in Germany" and fill it out. The Federal Employment Agency will suggest suitable applicants to you.
Once you have finally decided on an applicant, fill out the application form "Vacation employment for foreign students, technical students" in duplicate.
In addition, fill out the "Declaration of Employment Relationship" form.
Send the completed forms to the Central Foreign and Specialist Placement Office of the Federal Employment Agency. Please note that your application can only be processed if you have completed the forms in full and submit the application form "Holiday Employment for Foreign Students, Specialized Students" in duplicate.
The Federal Employment Agency will check your documents and certify your intended vacation employment if all requirements are met.

If you have already made personal contact with a student, proceed as follows:

Go to the website of the Federal Employment Agency, download the form "Application Form for Vacation Employment for Foreign Students, Specialized Students" and fill it out in duplicate.
Also fill out the form "Declaration of employment relationship".
Forward the "Declaration of Enrollment Certificate" form to your prospective vacationing employee so that the college or technical school will complete this form. In addition, we require an original certificate of enrollment issued by the university or college in German or English, alternatively with a translation.
Please send the completed forms together with a copy of the applicant's passport to the Central Placement Office of the Federal Employment Agency.
Please note that your application can only be processed if you have completed the forms in full and submitted the "Application Form for Vacation Employment for Foreign Students, Specialized Students" in duplicate.
The Federal Employment Agency will check your documents and, if all requirements are met, certify your intended vacation employment.

Alternatively, you can apply for vacation employment via the website of the Federal Employment Agency.

Go to the website of the Federal Employment Agency.
Fill out the forms "Application form for vacation employment for foreign students, technical students" and "Declaration of employment relationship" online and save these forms.
If the application is submitted electronically, the company stamp and signature are not required.
Upload the application form and the following evidence in the "Upload-Service" of the Federal Employment Agency:
- Declaration of enrollment
- Passport copy
- Certificate of enrollment
- Translation, if applicable, if matriculation certificate is not available in German or English language
To use the upload service, you must be logged in with your user account. If you do not have a user account, you must register once.
Then send the original certificate of enrollment to the Federal Employment Agency.

The Federal Employment Agency will check your documents and certify your intended vacation employment if all requirements are met.
