The school or the State Education Authority must notify the competent authority of the pregnancy of staff covered by the collective agreement.
This form can be submitted electronically without signature (e.g. via a secure contact form or by e-mail) or in paper form to the responsible authority.
The government is responsible for staff covered by collective agreements (e.g. administrative staff, all-day care staff, third-party staff) who are employed at elementary school, secondary schools, special schools, vocational schools (excluding technical secondary schools/vocational secondary schools) and at the state institutes for the training of specialist teachers and remedial teachers. For employees, the school or, in the case of primary and secondary schools, the state education authority must notify the government of the pregnancy.
The State Office for Schools is responsible for staff covered by collective agreements at state grammar schools (including home schools, preparatory colleges and colleges), secondary modern schools and vocational secondary schools.
The government of Upper Bavaria must be notified of the pregnancy of female employees at the state study seminar for the teaching profession at vocational schools.
The pregnancy of female employees at grammar schools, secondary modern schools and technical secondary schools/vocational secondary schools must be reported to the State Office for Schools.
For the duration of the maternity protection period (6 weeks before the medically certified expected date of delivery and generally 8 weeks after the birth), the employer will stop paying wages. Employees subject to compulsory insurance receive maternity benefit from their statutory health insurance fund during the protection periods and, if applicable, an employer's supplement to the maternity benefit.
Pregnant employees covered by collective agreements must inform their school management of their pregnancy as early as possible and submit a medical certificate confirming the expected date of delivery. The school or, in the case of primary and secondary schools, the state education authority sends the form "Notification of pregnancy for administrative staff/house and kitchen staff" (see under "Forms"), the medical certificate and a copy of the notification to the trade supervisory office to the government. A notice of termination of employment at the beginning of the maternity protection period will be submitted in due course.
