The trade supervisory authorities monitor working conditions on construction sites.
Construction workers are subject to special safety regulations due to the considerable strain and accident risks involved. The employer must take all necessary measures to protect the health and safety of construction workers.
In particular, in addition to collective protective measures, such as fall protection, he must provide the necessary personal protective equipment, e.g. safety helmet, hearing protection, safety shoes and gloves; in appropriate weather conditions, he must also provide protective clothing against cold and wet. Toilets, changing rooms, break rooms, washing and drying facilities and, where necessary, accommodation and, if necessary, first aid rooms must also be set up on the construction site. If necessary, accommodation for leisure time must be available on or near the construction site for non-local construction workers.
As the initiator of a construction project, building owners or their representatives are obliged to ensure that the occupational health and safety measures specific to the construction site are taken into account, coordinated and implemented at the planning stage.
The trade supervisory offices monitor compliance with the legal regulations. They carry out inspections on construction sites.
