The selection process is the key to training positions as a civil servant in public administration, the judiciary and the general law enforcement service. Only those who have successfully taken part can secure one of the coveted training places.
Every year, mainly in the fall, the Bavarian authorities offer training positions for entry into the second qualification level (formerly intermediate service) in the non-technical area of the civil service career path. In addition to the earning potential during the 2-year training (over 1,500 euros gross per month), the crisis-proof and varied job afterwards is also an incentive to choose this career path. Training opportunities are available, for example, in general internal administration, tax and public finance administration, judicial administration and prisons, social administration, public archives and academic and public libraries.
There is a central selection procedure for the allocation of training places, which is carried out once a year in July by the Bavarian State Personnel Committee and is generally only valid for the following recruitment year. However, recruitment authorities can - for a limited period of time until the 2027 recruitment year - also consider applicants in the recruitment process if they have not participated in the current selection process but have been successful in one of the three previous selection processes. The result of the selection procedure determines whether you are invited to an interview with the recruitment authorities.
The selection procedure is a written examination that tests German language skills, general knowledge and logical reasoning skills. School grades in German and mathematics or accounting are also taken into account.
Admission to the selection procedure is generally granted to
An examination fee is not charged.
Costs for travel, accommodation etc. are to be borne by the participant.
Registration for the selection procedure is probably possible every year from around February to the beginning of May . The examination is usually held in early/mid-July.
The selection procedure always takes place in the year before the start of training.
The current dates can be found on the website of the Bavarian State Personnel Committee (see "Related links").
