For wine products such as (plain) wine, country wine, quality wine, Prädikat wine, liqueur wine, semi-sparkling wine and sparkling wine, certain analytical minimum values (e.g. total alcohol content) or maximum values (e.g. total sulphurous acid) must be complied with. In practice, these values may not be reached or may be exceeded. Errors or deviations can also occur in the designation or cellar treatment, which can be sanctioned (approved) in exceptional cases.
Competent authorities:
a) Government of Lower Franconia for derogations according to § 2 WeinÜV in procedures according to § 19 para. 1 and § 20 para. 1 WeinG (= quality inspection for wines)
b) all governments for derogations in accordance with § 2 WeinÜV, provided that there is a deviation from regulations that primarily serve to protect health and prevent deception and no case of a) exists
Depending on the quantity of wine concerned and the severity of the deviation, from EUR 25 to EUR 500.
In addition, there are the expenses for any necessary investigations by the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety.
