Procedure details

Exemptions may be granted from the requirement of practical work as an engineer and a university, college, technical college or engineering school degree (Section 2 (1) No. 4 and (2) of the Motor Vehicle Experts Act (KfSachvG)) as well as from the completion of six months of training at a technical testing center (Section 2 (1) No. 5 KfSachvG).

For the granting of an exception with regard to a different degree program, a positive ABIS assessment must be submitted with the application (ABIS = Application for the Assessment of Engineering Degrees).

For the granting of an exception with regard to practical work or the shortening of the six-month training period, the application must be accompanied by a detailed justification of the reason for the exception, a certificate of employment/certificate of service or other suitable documents to justify a shortening of the periods.
