Procedure details

BayernInfo offers a wide range of services for citizens free of charge:

  • Current traffic situation: Information on the current traffic volume in real time. The information relates not only to the highway network, but also to the entire major road network. This includes information on traffic jams, roadworks and closures, hazard reports (e.g. objects on the road, accidents) and road weather reports. The traffic situation is supplemented by additional private real-time data. Autobahn GmbH, state building authorities, districts and local authorities report around 3,500 current roadworks and closures on Bavaria's roads every year.
  • Webcams on the traffic situation in Bavaria: approx. 500 webcams provide live images of the most important Bavarian highways and federal roads. In addition, approx. 50 webcams at rest areas, mobile cameras in roadworks areas and municipal traffic cameras, as well as camera images from Austria and Baden-Württemberg are integrated into Bayerninfo. The integration of further webcams from neighboring regions is planned.
  • Parking: Information on the current occupancy of truck parking spaces on highways (currently A9, further expansion is planned) and parking garages in large cities. Information on the facilities and, where applicable, prices of parking lots and service stations throughout Bavaria is also included
  • Information on e-charging and new forms of mobility: the map contains real-time occupancy data for charging points for electric vehicles. In the future, information on sharing offers and other mobility services will also be integrated.
  • Information on freight transport centers: data on freight transport centers is stored for the logistics sector.
  • Door-to-door route planner: multimodal travel information with a combination of different means of transport (e.g. car, train, bus, underground and suburban train) including local transport, footpaths and cycle routes. This also includes real-time delay data for public transport.
  • Radlland Bayern (in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Home Affairs): Cycle route planner with information on the most important long-distance cycle routes

Most navigation systems, traffic information services on the Internet and logistics applications use the data from Bayerninfo, including Google Maps, TomTom, Apple Maps, ADAC Maps, HERE Maps, Bing Maps, all networked fixed navigation systems, traffic information sites in Austria and the Czech Republic, the Bundeswehr logistics center and many more.

Much of the data stored in Bayerninfo is made available free of charge on the federal government's Mobilithek for in-vehicle applications, websites and research purposes (open data). Bayerninfo content is also used for broadcasting on the TMC channel (traffic radio).

The internet service for traffic information is operated by the Central Office for Traffic Management at the Bavarian State Building Directorate.

The traffic information can be accessed via the Internet using a PC or a mobile device via apps for iOS and Android.
