The purpose of international school exchanges is for pupils from different countries to meet in person, to get to know other cultures and social systems and to promote intercultural understanding. It includes both exchanges with the school and individual exchanges.

Numerous Bavarian schools offer school exchanges every year as part of an international school partnership, with reciprocal visits by classes or groups of pupils.
