Grants for measures and projects in the field of addiction prevention and addiction support are intended to prevent addiction risks and mitigate existing risks or impairments to health and quality of life. The existing nationwide network of prevention services is to be maintained and strengthened.
Funding is provided for addiction prevention specialists from associations and local authorities, the care of addicted and at-risk prisoners and detainees in Bavarian prisons by external specialists, projects and measures to prevent and combat addiction, as well as further training measures that serve to impart, expand, deepen and further develop the specific specialist knowledge of volunteers and relatives working in the field of addiction.
Central associations of independent welfare organizations and their affiliated organizations as well as local authorities are eligible to apply.
Funding can be provided for personnel expenses and, depending on the object of the funding, also for material expenses.
As part of project funding, grants are awarded in the form of fixed-amount funding (lump sums).

The governments are responsible for approval. The governments submit applications for initial funding to the State Ministry for Health, Care and Prevention for a decision following a technical and legal review. The approval period is the calendar year.
Applications for initial funding under the guidelines for the funding of prevention and counseling services in the field of addiction can be submitted at any time.
Applications for the continuation of existing measures and projects (follow-up applications) must be submitted to the granting authority by December 1 of the year preceding the funding period applied for. Applications received after this date will not be considered.
Addiction prevention efforts are aimed at preventing risky, harmful or addictive behavior and consumption. In addition to avoiding risk factors, health resources and skills should also be strengthened.
