Prerequisite for appointment as a test engineer:
The monitoring organization may entrust persons belonging to it with carrying out the main inspection (HU) and safety inspection (SP) if they
- are at least 23 years old
- are mentally and physically fit and reliable,
- have a driving license for motor vehicles of all categories, except categories D and D1, and are not subject to a driving ban pursuant to Section 25 of the Road Traffic Act or Section 44 of the Criminal Code or if their driving license has been taken into custody, seized or confiscated pursuant to Section 94 of the Code of Criminal Procedure,
- have successfully completed a course of study in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or electrical engineering at a university or a public or state-recognized university of applied sciences located within the scope of this Ordinance or at a university recognized as equivalent,
- have participated in a training course lasting at least six months which meets the requirements of the training and further training plan published by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport with the approval of the supreme state authorities in the Verkehrsblatt; the duration of the training may be reduced to three months if proof is provided of at least three years of full-time professional activity as a motor vehicle expert,
- have demonstrated their professional aptitude by passing an examination in accordance with the provisions of §§ 2 to 14 of the Ordinance on the Implementation of the Motor Vehicle Experts Act (registration for the examination can only be made by the inspection organization that has trained them or intends to entrust them with carrying out the HU, SP and inspections after passing the tests),
- are not entrusted by any other monitoring organization,
- work full-time as motor vehicle experts,
- and if the competent recognition authority has given its approval (Sections 9 to 17 of the Professional Qualifications Assessment Act apply accordingly).
