Procedure details

Part-time teachers are persons who are employed under public law by the Free State of Bavaria or another employer and who, in addition to their main job, also teach in the state school service.

In principle, part-time teachers must perform an activity other than their main job.

In the case of civil servant teachers who are in the leave of absence phase of partial retirement or in the leave of absence phase of the sabbatical year, teaching during the leave of absence phase must be classified as overtime. Approval as part-time teaching is no longer permitted for teachers in the release phase.

Part-time teachers are not employed as part of an employment relationship, but with a teaching assignment. Remuneration is paid for the teaching hours actually given, which must be accounted for.

If a teacher is commissioned to teach part-time, he or she can invoice the actual hours taught. To issue a part-time contract, the school management must first submit the documents for the employment of part-time teachers to the responsible personnel administration office (including the application for regulation of the part-time employment relationship). As soon as the part-time contract has been drawn up, the hours worked can be settled with the responsible personnel administration office via the school management using the settlement form.

For secondary schools, vocational secondary schools, grammar schools and colleges, processing takes place at the State Office for Schools, for other types of schools at the responsible governments.

Lessons should be billed monthly using the form under "Forms".
