Part-time teachers are persons who are employed under public law by the Free State of Bavaria or another employer and who, in addition to their main job, also teach in the state school service.
In principle, part-time teachers must perform an activity other than their main job.
Part-time teaching is also possible for civil servant teachers who are in the leave of absence phase of partial retirement or in the leave of absence phase of the sabbatical year.
Part-time teachers are not employed within the framework of an employment relationship, but rather with a teaching assignment. They are remunerated for the actual teaching hours they teach, which must be invoiced.
If a teacher is assigned to give part-time lessons, he or she can invoice the actual hours taught. The settlement is confirmed by the school management. In the area of primary, secondary and special schools, billing is carried out by the governments, in the area of secondary modern schools, vocational secondary schools, grammar schools and colleges by the State Office for Schools, the other school types by the responsible governments.
