Since the age limits were raised, teachers at public schools born in 1964 or later generally retire at the end of the school semester or school year in which they reach the age of 67. For those born between 1947 and 1963, the age limit is gradually raised from 65 to 67.
It is possible to apply for retirement after reaching the age of 64 (without severe disability) or after reaching the age of 60 (with severe disability).
If it is in the interests of the service to continue working, retirement can be postponed on request beyond the statutory age limit for a certain period, which may not exceed one year in each case, but by a maximum of three years in total.
