The absenteeism report evaluates the absences of state employees of the Free State of Bavaria in a calendar year.
The absence report is usually published every five years.
The purpose of the absence statistics is to determine the level of absences due to illness in detail so that deficits in individual areas can be identified and specific causes can be sought.
These statistics record all days on which employees would have been obliged to work but were unable to do so due to illness. This means that sick days that fall on weekends or public holidays are not normally taken into account (exception: shift and weekend work). Statutory and medically prescribed maternity protection periods and spa treatments are not absences in this sense and are therefore not included in these statistics.
The absence statistics are a prerequisite for the selective use of countermeasures. Absenteeism management can only be as successful as its implementation by the individual employee.
