Housing advice centers provide important assistance to help people remain in their own homes. Individual advice on adapting housing can help people to live at home as independently as possible.
Most older people wish to remain living at home in familiar surroundings for as long as possible. However, individual home adaptations are often necessary to make living at home easier for people with mobility problems and other physical limitations. Housing advice and adaptations can help to prevent accidents and injuries and thus maintain or restore people's ability to live independently in their home and living environment.
Even small measures, such as removing tripping hazards from carpets, improving lighting, installing grab rails in the bathroom or technical assistance systems (e.g. stove safety device, reminder to take tablets) often have a big impact.
On request, the housing advice service also provides support in commissioning tradesmen and accompanies the conversion measures.
