Pilot's license; application for the issue of a further authorization

You can apply for an extension of the privileges of a private pilot's license, a glider pilot's license and a balloon pilot's license.

The rights of a private pilot license can be extended to the authorization to perform aerobatics, the authorization to tow gliders and banners, the night flight authorization, the mountain flight authorization, the authorization of various types of take-off for holders of a glider pilot license and the authorization for commercial activity or activity against remuneration of a balloon pilot.

If you wish to acquire the aerobatic license, you must have a
- light aircraft pilot license (airplane) or
- private pilot license (aircraft).
If you wish to acquire the authorization to tow gliders and banners, you must have a
- Light aircraft pilot license (aircraft),
- private pilot license (aircraft) or
- glider pilot license (SPL with rights for TMG).
If you wish to acquire the night flying authorization, you must have a
- Light aircraft pilot license (aircraft),
- Private pilot license (aircraft),
- Private pilot license (helicopter),
- glider pilot license (SPL with rights for TMG) or
- balloon pilot license.
If you wish to apply for authorization for other types of take-off in a glider license, you must have a glider pilot license.
If you wish to acquire the authorization for commercial activity or activity for remuneration for holders of balloon pilot licenses, you must
- have reached the age of 18,
- have completed at least the following flight experience after initial issue of the license: BPL holders: 50 flying hours and 50 take-offs and landings as PIC on balloons,
- the rights for the balloon class in which the rights for commercial flight operations are to be exercised must be available,
- have passed the practical examination with an examiner in the balloon class in which the qualification for commercial balloon flight operations must be demonstrated.

Copy of the valid medical certificate
in the case of an application for authorisation to engage in commercial activity or to engage in activity for remuneration: evidence of examination of competence
in the case of an application for the issue/extension of a mountain rating: when conducting the practical examination with the holder of a foreign examiner's certificate, a copy of the foreign licence and examiner's certificate of the examiner

The application must be submitted to the relevant aviation authority together with the documents listed there. After the documents have been checked, the requested entry is made in the private pilot license.
