The Ökoflächenkataster (ÖFK) is a database for managing ecologically significant areas that are not listed in any other register. This also includes eco-account areas. The register supports the nature conservation authorities in enforcing the impact regulation.

The areas in the ecological area register serve, among other things, as valuable building blocks in ecological network projects.
Notifications to the ecological area register are made on a parcel-by-parcel basis.
Notification of compensation and replacement areas
The approval authorities (e.g. governments, district offices, municipalities, offices for rural development, offices for food, agriculture and forestry, mining authorities, Federal Railway Authority) transmit the compensation and replacement areas determined as part of impact planning to the State Office for the Environment.
Compensation and replacement areas are reported using the electronic reporting form. The notification form contains all the important information on compensation and replacement areas that is required for inclusion in the ecological area register.
If a compensation and replacement area is to be deducted from an eco-account already registered in the eco-area register, the registration form linked under "Forms" must be used.
Until the reprogramming of the eco-area register has been completed, production-integrated compensation measures on changing areas can be reported to the eco-area register using the reporting form linked under "Forms".
The conventional registration form can be sent by e-mail (oekoflaechenkataster@lfu.bayern.de) to the State Office for the Environment.
Compensatory and replacement areas and measures must be reported to the eco-area register by the approval authorities immediately after the decision has been issued. This also applies to compensation and replacement areas that have to be deducted from eco-accounts.
